Reflection Week 4

There has been a lot to comment about this week. The links that I have found to enhanced my lessons. I was trying to answer the weekly Web skills’ assignments, but from time to time I come across valuable websites to be sued by my students.

It is great to use Google drive account which I created in the past, but it was useless for me, but now, I do recognize the utility it would provide for me and my classroom. I was able to send my model lesson to my moderator.

I had also the opportunity to think of my students’ predicament, in dealing with writing. I have thought of extending the use of blog for their benefits.

I have the opportunity to read some posts of my web skill class colleagues and see how close sometimes our problems are. I think we need to think of global solutions for our classroom problems for our common milieu.

Reflection week 3

The third week has been a great one for discovering the pitfalls I have been making. One of them is delaying to post on Wednesday because of the overloaded schedule I have to do the weekly tasks; teaching, learning; and homely requirements.  The mark has been reduced twice, despite writing and posting my correctly and relevantly the mandatory answers. I most of the time do my activities starting form Thursday, when the stress of work become light. I am wondering if the coordinators could take this in account when grading my posts. Also, I tried to sign all my post, and include the country.

Second point is that I have learnt much about the speaking skills, oral ones, which I need to implement in my classroom in a future project.

Also, delicious has been a great tool to explore and make use of again.   

Reading previous colleagues projects is necessary to have a clear picture of what is expect from us in the coming week.  This would help in recognizing better the rubrics and rigorous steps to design the project.

This week, I have updated all the blog post: providing a title and posted all the answers of week 3.

I like the project and the way it is managed.  I would say that there is a similarity the situation of this teacher and mine, working in the same conditions and aspiring to make in students’ life as far as dealing with English throughout their studies, despite being a very short period. In fact, there should be a long term to better supervisor the students and notice the kinds of changes that would be made.

I hope, I would be able to design a related project.

Week 3, TASK 2: Delicious

It is very interesting to use delicious, again. I have used it in the past when I was taking an online course. It has been very useful as a practical and easily reference. I used to make sure of the data I have included in activities. Also, it provides more data for those who would like to know more about the issue you are embarking upon.

What is interesting is that it shows how many people have bookmarked the same link.  Otherwise, you will be the first to use that link that will expand by the number of people using it later.

What is more is that it booked online. It can remain there, even if you may format your computer. The data of bookmarking cannot be kept by fireworks or other applications. That is the usefulness of delicious if you have created your own account.

I have tried to see some of the other colleagues.  Unfortunately, they take me to something different.

Project Task 3: Read and discuss a past sample project report

The article refutes the idea that it is obligatory for a teacher should have considerable time to prepare for a listening activity based on a particular video. She suggested that the fact of doing so make the whole activity devoid of its authenticity. It “erodes the power of the message within the video,” and “takes away the inherent pleasure in learning from TED speakers. “ 

She put forward some activities that need to be implemented in the classroom without that tremendous effort that could be invested on particular demanding tasks.  To illustrate I have used these activities in my classroom and I would like to persuade other colleagues to use them. :

·         Prediction:  what's the video going to be about?

·         Vocabulary Collection

·         Debate

·         Post-speech interview

·         Critical Thinking - Who's the target audience?

These kinds of tasks help my students explore their critical thinking potential which is a paramount importance exercises that should be enhanced.

It is great to have read your post suggesting teaching different sub-skills in your lessons, including intonation, rhythm, stress... These suggestions are in line to your classroom and the level of your students.

My task seems to be hard little bit because I have to deal with critical thinking activities all the time. There is no direct teaching of grammar and vocabulary in my classroom. My students are considered or are supposed to have a good command of English. However, I should meet the needs of special students in the "Colles" sessions.

Reflection week 2

This week, we have exposed to great work to do including ABCD objectives which seem to me very necessary in designing ones' lessons to make them effective. We were also, asked to describe our class, students, setting, and certain behavioral objectives. What was really interesting was the discovery and exploration of the various search engines that provide massive opportunities to look exactly to the pertinent data or information that we struggle to have.
I will be back to my blog to continue reflecting about positive journey of skills and knowledge I am endeavoring to realize.
